DJ Whoo Kid is best known for being the official DJ of G-Unit but what most people don’t know is that he is an avid gamer. Whoo Kid’s two sons, Ken and Ryu, are both named after characters from the Street Fighter video game franchise. When we approached him on Soul Xpression, he knew games were the direction he wanted to go. With video game animation getting more intense and the lines between the real world and virtual reality blurring, Whoo Kid designed this car to morph into an arcade. “Games are a childhood addiction and getting realer by the day. I’m addicted to games and thought it would be cool to turn the car itself into a driving simulator. Using the controls on car racing games just never feels real. Why just have buttons, a joystick, and a controller when you can use the whole car.” In Whoo Kid’s vision, you park the car in “G” [Game] and a projector beams the game on the wall in front of you, with the driver racing in the car through the game’s virtual world. Of course, a state-of-the-art sound system is a given, as is the ability to play games from a supersize screen that unfolds in the trunk of the car for when the mood fits. Whoo Kid’s life is as dynamic as his vision. He travels and hangs with everyone from the Hollywood to hip-hop elite. From mixtape king to breaking new talent, being a radio host and spinning for princes, sheiks and 25,000-person crowds, Whoo Kid is ready to take on what’s next in his Soul Xpression.
