Calling all 90’s kids, remember moon shoes?
Well, Nike’s made them for real and in a world of endless collaborations, Nike has topped them all. They’ve hooked up with Buzz Aldrin, the lunar module pilot of Apollo 11and second man to walk on the moon, (a little history 101 for the moon shoe wearing kids) who shared his Apollo 11 mission experiences, to inspire the Nike 6.0 Buzz Aldrin Rocket Hero Mavrk Mid 2.
The midnight black shoes represent the infinite darkness and depths of space while the two-toned Swoosh reps the dark and light side of the moon. The upper and the toe are printed with one of Buzz’s own photos taken in 1969. Check inside of the shoe for an image of Buzz’s actual moon footprint.
But the shoes aren’t all about looks. The Nike 6.0 Buzz Aldrin Rocket Hero Mavrk Mid 2 were created with a cold-wrap process, which allows the reduction of material in the outsole for a significantly lighter shoe while reducing the use of harmful solvents. Impact absorption by true mid-soles paired with Nike Free inspired flex-grooves on the outsole make for true lightweight performance.
These for real moon shoes will be available at select retailers January 1st for $85.00. -SK
