Monday, January 11th 16:21 PM KicksIn 1923, Time Magazine hit newsstands for the first time, The Walt Disney Company was founded, and German shoemaker, Albert Messmer, birthed the first soccer cleat.
hummel (yes, it’s a lower case H) can thank Messmer for the inspiring the creation of it’s athletic company and football brand. Football (soccer for us Americans) and handball are hummel’s specialty. By 2004, hummel had become the official brand of the Danish National Soccer Team, but like any good brand, they’re versatile. They aren’t just a sports brand, but a lifestyle brand. The Royal family wears hummel. Editors at Antenna wear hummel. Tim Brodhagen from Rad Collector wears hummel. I mean how much more lifestyle can you get than that?
2010 marks the launch of hummel North America. 1923 was great, but 2010 is looking even better. -SK
