“The inspiration for this style was really about our surroundings and immediate environment."

THE STORE “We originally opened the store in 1990. Back then we were growing up with skateboarding and the emergence of streetwear. It was really a passion and interest in both, and the store became a natural progression. We didn’t have much of a business plan at the time. It was just a way of getting hold of the cool stuff that we were in to.
“I think PUMP will have the same resonance with our customers that it does us. For those of a slightly older generation they will have fond memories of The PUMP and will remember how ground breaking the technology was upon its initial launch. Classic sneakers and bring backs seem to be out there in prominence right now. The Reebok PUMP is an icon in the history of sneakers and for the younger generation coming through it’s probably a style they will have been unaware of. The 20th anniversary of its inception seems like a perfect time to bring it back as it’s long overdue some recognition.”
THE PUMP20 PRODUCT “The inspiration for this style was really about our surroundings and immediate environment. Initially we looked for direct influences from the late eighties and early nineties but opted to go with this concept. Everything is built from granite in Aberdeen. In the summer it sparkles and in the winter it’s pretty muted. It reacts to the extreme seasons of dark winters, very light summers and the variety of weather we experience all year round. Four seasons in a day is not uncommon. “For some reason it seemed appropriate, the idea of granite and the Reebok PUMP. We wanted to keep the application fairly subtle with a tonal grey suede nubuck application and to call out some key details.” Ed Toft, Hanon.
